one father
stands alone
back to the sun
face in shadows
anger radiating
from broken glances
you were born upon
the death of many lives
and you were torn upon
the teeth of many knives
what is your reason
to hate me.

one father
stands alone
dark shadow
like a thumb print
on my arm
oblivious to the pain
he caused in mass amounts
I was concieved
of sperm and sweat
one fighting life amongst
the dying regrets.

one father
like any other
wanting a son
getting a daughter
worthless child
on a farm
like the heiffers
have their place
sold out
possessions
he just can't win
can't get ahead
can't stop the anger.

one father
impatiently waiting
no time for love
no time for comforting
if its another girl
we leave it
worthless sperm
waste of sweat
thank god he's
a boy
welcome home
son.

when my mother was giving birth to my brother my father told her in all seriousness that if she had another girl it wasn't coming home with them.. she had a boy... and begged the doctors for a tubal ligation...they agreed reluctantly since she was only 22 with many childbaring years ahead of her..
many childbaring years ahead of her...what a horrifying thought that must have been...with her husbands ultimatum weighing down on her.
" if its another girl we leave it here. "

Wow... this one's really really good. I can't really say much other than Wow. I love it, it's so emotional, and so sad.. Another great one.

You never see the bullet, never hear the shot, because as it tears through
your head and the jacket splits and the core blows the remains out the back,

the sound is still a few feet from your ears.

The emotional content in this is worth more than the form.. and also reflects the form in short lines and quick endings. Just as the father made her life and the life of his family.

It's very sad the impact that ignorance has on us... feels like it lasts a lifetime. Sticks and stones can break our bones but they heal with time, whoever said words can never hurt us was full of it.

Great poem... thanks for sharing:D (Big Grin)
